Network Engineer

The Network Engineer is an essential member of the Solutions II Managed Services Team, working closely with the Solutions Engineers in delivering client network and system infrastructure managed services. He or she is responsible for; Monitoring of our client’s network systems performance and ensure system availability and reliability. Managing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS). Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.

Additionally, the Network Engineer will:

  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to network that will improve the quality, performance, security and reliability of the network
  • Analyze system errors or anomalies, as well as specific network performance issues and/or error messages, in order to ensure maximum uptime and service quality and assess trends that may ultimately result in degradation of service
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Create and maintain documentation of networks and network systems

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience
  • Formal hardware/software training and/or certifications from one or more of the following vendors: Cisco Systems (CCNA, CCNP), VMware, Juniper Networks (JNCIA, JNCIS), Citrix, F5 Networks, A10, Aruba, Palo Alto, CheckPoint, Fortinet, and/or other industry leading technology provider
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of networking protocols and standards including but not limited to: IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, EIGRP OSPF, 802.11g/n/ac, Spanning Tree, Link Aggregation, VLAN, VXLAN, 802.1Q, NAT, PAT, QoS, SSL, and Policy based routing
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Experience working with Cisco IOS and NX-OS command line
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • University degree in a related subject (Preferred)

Skills & Expectations

A qualified candidate should have experience in and be able to demonstrate Problem Solving, LAN Knowledge, Proxy Servers, Networking Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation, Network Troubleshooting, Network Hardware Configuration, Network Performance Tuning skills.
